No matter how difficult things may be, I think we need to keep it all in perspective, and keep faith in the future. If nothing else, it is our covenant with ourselves, in trying to live our lives.
I am not old, but when I become old, I hope I am one of those beautiful old women that glows with her own inner light, in a life that has been well lived. One who offers courage to the young. One who sets an example in how they treat themselves, and those that surround her.

Student of History, Student of Science
I decided several years back to become a Student of History and a Student of Science. What this means in real terms is I am filling in the gaps of my education through my own reading, and my own writing. This was a slow start, but what I have found through the years has been a deepening of knowledge, an awareness of symbol, and a sense of satisfaction from the beginning glimmers of wisdom. I am not wise, but at least I know there is work to do, and work to work on.
I am a most fortunate woman to come from a family of readers.
One of my favorite "Guilty Pleasures" is to read on "Leftovers" or why we do the things we do sometimes. I question everything, and some of the answers are sort of fun. Much of what we see around us are pagan leftovers.
I am not advocating a return to paganism, but I do ascribe to Lionel Corbetts philosophy. He is worth looking into.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnmo46QPDcs
I am also becoming a big fan of James Hollis.
A few of my more favorite Pagan leftovers will be listed as I expand this article.
My understanding is - the only way they managed to Christianize Ireland, is they renamed all the wells and sacred places for Christian saints.
My brief list, just getting started
Christmas Trees
Easter Eggs
Mithras and Christ were born December 25th
Easter - Oestra
Rise and Shine little Goddess
And this is all very odd, as I do at times see more than I say I know. I would say we are supported by history in our voyage to the future, but we also must incorporate new information.

Genetically Modified Food
"A 2007 review of published scientific literature on the “potential toxic effects/health risks of GM plants” revealed “that experimental data are very scarce.” The author concludes his review by asking, “Where is the scientific evidence showing that GM plants/food are toxicologically safe, as assumed by the biotechnology companies?”"
"Famed Canadian geneticist David Suzuki answers, “The experiments simply haven’t been done and we now have become the guinea pigs.” He adds, “Anyone that says, ‘Oh, we know that this is perfectly safe,’ I say is either unbelievably stupid or deliberately lying.”"

Something is up with Google today. Their systems are not acting right, and I don't think these new versions are all that improved. But, it is what it is.
Today, and this past week, I have had Ceres conjunct my Sun in Taurus, and I have had Juno oppose my Sun in Taurus in Scorpio. The subject of Genetically Modified Food has come up, and I have done a lot of reading. To be frank, I am concerned.
It seems that the food supply is being modified, dna sequences are being changed, and they don't want the masses to know about it. About the time all this monkeying around started, our obesity epidemic kicked off.
I want this to be a serious blog, and for that you have to find original citations. So for now, I am going to list the facts as I understand them, and I will be back over the coming month to list the citations. I read an article by concerned physicians, and they recommend for health problems that seem insolvable and that cannot be diagnosed, to remove patients from all GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms). I know that the State of Vermont wanted to label food if it was GMO, and that Mosanto threatened to sue the state if they did this. From the reading I have done, it appears that unless an item is specifically labeled organic, then you can assume it is GMO. I know I have had a problem with my gut for the last 10 years, and I am the proverbial canary in the coal mine.
There is a cute blog over on yahoo called "Eat This, Not That", which is worth a read.
My chops? Believe it or not, I was premed for three years. I have had two years of biology, human anatomy, physiology. I have had three years of chemistry, including organic chemistry. Then, I switched to something I thought easier, which was mechanical engineering. I have an MBA on top from a very good school in New England. Public Health has always been a strong interest of mine. I understand the scientific method. I know how to do deep research on the graduate level. I have been taught not to take everything at face value and always dig deep for the facts, and the facts of GMO at this moment disturb me. Looks like things were rushed to market to me, without an understanding of long term effects and consequence.
The information I have so far;
1) Bovine growth hormone increased the production of milk. This was rushed ot market, and there really has been no long term study on the affects on humans for consuming this milk. The standard tag line is that there are no ill effects, but how do we "Really" know that. Do we know that for sure? Have we done a scientific study over the course of a life-time?
2) Genetically modified corn has been in the food supply since 1998. Since then there has been an uptick in food allergies.
3) Corn and Soy products are now all mostly GMO. Tomatoes are GMO. Cottonseed and Canola oil are GMO.
4) There is an amino acid used in bread to create a thicker product - that amino acid is derived from human hair, that hair comes from China. (Source - "Eat This, Not That" on the Yahoo Blogs).
5) They put Cellulose in our packaged food. Cellulose is dissolved wood. They are putting Wood in our packaged food. (Source - The Wall Street Journal).
6) There has been documented organ damage noted in animals fed Genetically Modified food. Gut thickening, liver and kidney damage. Use of GMO has just started within the last 20 years, we don't know the long term affects.
7) If you are eating commercial meat or dairy products, you can be assured that these animals were fed GMO.
8) Most products containing sugar have been replaced with products containing corn syrup. Although it will be claimed that there is no difference, in talking to an NIH type, the body processes corn syrup differently from sugar. There is a metabolism process going on in the liver. And remember, all corn is GMO now.
Now, before you think this is a rant against corporate interests, it is not. I have been corporate most of my adult life, and I am 50 now. But that is just it - I know how they think. Maximize profit to meet quarterly earnings. Without government regulatory intervention, anything can happen. I have also done product development and introduction, and from my sky high view point, it looks like these things were rushed to market. Where are the long term studies, where are the long term determination of any health effects especially when you start messing around with the genome. That is what worries me.
People are going to do what they can to maximize their returns in the moment, without a lot of thought of long term consequence. This is why you need government as a partner to business like it or not, because at this point we don't have the ability to police ourselves. Something like this - GMO - affects us all, and whether or not we consume it should not be mandated by specific corporate interest. And yes - like I said - I am corporate myself, but I work on the inside and I understand these things. I also believe in a free press. ( A blog post for another day is how all our major media outlets are now owned by major corporations, so you need to be careful where you get your information from as there will always be bias and self interest. Be careful where you get your information from, and as they taught me in graduate school, look at multiple sources, including a foreign newspaper or two. It will put a completely different spin on things, but as I said - a post for another day.)
I have heard the shrill voices in the background for years on GMO, and I was like "Yeah, yeah, yeah - I am busy....." and ignored it. What got my attention was Mosanto threatening to sue the State of Vermont for simply wanting to label food if it was GMO or not. That got me. That is big corporate interest trying to crush the voice of the people, and that pissed me off. So, I started digging into it. The information is valid, documented, worth noting, and it concerns me. The rush to market without valid data worries me.
The assumption should be, if your food is not labled organic - then it is likely GMO.
When you start messing around with the genome, you start monkeying around with the source of life itself. There are always unintended consequences, we did not create this, and I think it is more than just a bit of hubris to shove this down our throat.
I am not saying we should not be doing this type of research to cure human disease and problems. I am saying we need to understand our appropriate limits.
I am in the process of making the transition to organic as best I possibly can. Yes - it is more expensive up front, but as the demand for these products goes up, the supply chain will be created on the back end, and eventually the price will go down. You need to think of it as long term effects.

American Academy of Environmental Medicine position paper on GMO
http://aaemonline.org/gmopost.html
A good write up on the controversy, with the original source on the weblink. It is worth reading the entire article as it is well written with documented citations.
original source: http://www.examiner.com/article/jon-stewart-spoofs-and-doctors-warn-avoid-gmos from : Jon Stewart spoofs and doctors warn: avoid GMOs by NJ Jaeger , LA Environmental Health Advisor. May 15, 2009.
"According to AAEM, “There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation” as defined by recognized scientific criteria. “The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies.” Some experts go a step further. After reviewing more than 600 scientific journals, world renowned biologist Pushpa. M. Bhargava concluded that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are a major contributor to the sharply deteriorating health of Americans."
"AAEM states, “Multiple animal studies show significant immune dysregulation,” including increase in cytokines, which are “associated with asthma, allergy, and inflammation”—all on the rise in the US.
According to GM food safety expert Dr. Arpad Pusztai, changes in the immune status of GM animals are “a consistent feature of all the studies.” Even Monsanto’s own research showed significant immune system changes in rats fed Bt corn. A November 2008 by the Italian government also found that mice have an immune reaction to Bt corn."
"GM soy and corn each contain two new proteins with allergenic properties, GM soy has up to seven times more trypsin inhibitor—a known soy allergen, and skin prick tests show some people react to GM, but not to non-GM soy. Soon after GM soy was introduced to the UK, soy allergies skyrocketed by 50%. Perhaps the US epidemic of food allergies and asthma is a casualty of genetic manipulation."
"In India, animals graze on cotton plants after harvest. But when shepherds let sheep graze on Bt cotton plants, thousands died. Post mortems showed severe irritation and black patches in both intestines and liver (as well as enlarged bile ducts). Investigators said preliminary evidence “strongly suggests that the sheep mortality was due to a toxin. . . . most probably Bt-toxin.” In a small follow-up feeding study, all sheep fed Bt cotton plants died within 30 days; those that grazed on natural cotton plants remained healthy."
"In a small village in Andhra Pradesh, buffalo grazed on cotton plants for eight years without incident. On January 3rd, 2008, the buffalo grazed on Bt cotton plants for the first time. All 13 were sick the next day; all died within 3 days.".......
"In lab studies, twice the number of chickens fed Liberty Link corn died; 7 of 20 rats fed a GM tomato developed bleeding stomachs; another 7 of 40 died within two weeks. Monsanto’s own study showed evidence of poisoning in major organs of rats fed Bt corn, according to top French toxicologist, G. E. Seralini."
"When evidence of gene transfer is reported at medical conferences around the US, doctors often respond by citing the huge increase of gastrointestinal problems among their patients over the last decade. GM foods might be colonizing the gut flora of North Americans."
"Scientists at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had warned about all these problems even in the early 1990s. According to documents released from a lawsuit, the scientific consensus at the agency was that GM foods were inherently dangerous, and might create hard-to-detect allergies, poisons, gene transfer to gut bacteria, new diseases, and nutritional problems. They urged their superiors to require rigorous long-term tests. But the White House had ordered the agency to promote biotechnology and the FDA responded by recruiting Michael Taylor, Monsanto’s former attorney, to head up the formation of GMO policy. That policy, which is in effect today, denies knowledge of scientists’ concerns and declares that no safety studies on GMOs are required. It is up to Monsanto and the other biotech companies to determine if their foods are safe. Mr. Taylor later became Monsanto’s vice president."

I have been mostly GMO free since I wrote this article. It is hard in the USA, and I am not 100% free as frequently I purchase my lunch at work. With effort as I dig into this, I will do a better job of bringing lunch in from home.
Since I have been GMO free, I have felt better. A sense of native energy is coming back. Being GMO free here means eating mostly organic, which I do, so some of that may be coming into play as well.
Bernie Sanders, of Vermont, is doing some good work in trying to get responsible action on the GMO issue. Anyone interested in the issue, should look him up.

Sorting through things
Willow Web Blog - by Willow has been tracking some of the astrological changes with Venus. I have been following a series of articles she has written since September 2010, and they are spot on to what I have experienced.
http://willowsweb.blogspot.com/
I went through a pretty bad break up and all of last year was no fun as well. She has been writing about this Venus cycle through Via-Combusta and a Karmic clearing taking place. For me, her articles have been a god-send.
I also found this http://www.the-soulmate-site.com/past-life-love.html
over the weekend, which has been a big help as well.
Change is in the wind for me, and somewhere I read in all these blogs to "Cooperate with the inevitable".
Happy Easter. I did go to church - I like the ritual.
I am getting ready to make a concerted study of the Greeks. Janet Kane did an astrology reading for me which was spot on. I seem to have an ongoing Pluto process. I had a reading the month prior with Joyce Mason as well. Both mentioned that I am an outer planet person.
Again - "Cooperate with the Inevitable".
My big realization this weekend, and I suppose I have this over and over, is I have to get out of the 8th house (where my south node is) and over there into the 2nd House (where my north node is).
All I want is a bonded, loving relationship, and I keep getting lessons on being self sufficient. I had a lovely bonded relationship with the ex-boyfriend, which was fantastic, until he pulled the rug out under me and left suddenly. My whole world collapsed for about a year. So - back to getting over there into the second house and the north node - self sufficiency being important.
I have Chiron, South Node, Juno, and Pallas all in Pisces all in the 8th house. Ex-boyfriend keyed onto Chiron, Juno. His saturn conjuncted my Jupiter - which was exactly conjunct my descendent. His Jupiter conjuncted my Descendent in my relocated chart. He was a really good boyfriend for a long time, but the ending was just awful. Last year he was repeatedly hit with Saturn transiting his ascendent and moon in Libra and with Uranus transiting his sun (three time) in Aries. The Pluto Uranus square will affect him as well.
My lesson was not getting overly dependent on someone like that I guess. If you are overly dependent on volatile people who can leave at a moment's notice without any real reason at all - not good. Dad's North Node is conjunct my Pallas - and he has always insisted that I have a career. Thank God.
Interestingly enough, when the ex left I had two friends show up that had the same birthday as he did. They have been good friends.
We'll see how it all plays out. I apologize for the absence, but there was some inner work I needed to do.
